At this time, the issue of particular interest to the EPA at Federal prisons is the generation and management of hazardous waste. Federal prisons generate hazardous waste through activities such as facility maintenance, light industrial operations, and grounds maintenance. Of additional interest are RCRA surface impoundments and corrective action sites.
