Southern Review of Legislative & Regulatory Actions - January 2017
The Southern Review of Legislative & Regulatory Actions, published by the U.S. Army's Regional Environmental and Energy Office--Southern (REEO-S), is designed to provide current information to environmental decision makers, planners, and program managers regarding environmental actions and events throughout Federal EPA Region 4 (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee). Information listed may be relevant to the U.S. Army and other Military Services' activities and operations. See attached.

In this issue of the Southern Review:

 

-- Florida revised rules relating to endangered or threatened species, reclassifying 23 species from Species of Special Concern to State Designated Threatened status and 13 species from Species of Special Concern to Unlisted.

 

-- Army completed a Programmatic Environmental Assessment for the construction, operation, and maintenance of photovoltaic (i.e. solar electric) energy projects on Army installations.

 

-- EPA proposed amendments to the NESHAP for Publicly Owned Treatment Works to address results of the residual risk and technology review conducted under the Clean Air Act.

 

-- FWS presented an updated list of plant and animal species native to the U.S. that are regarded as candidates for addition to the lists of endangered and threatened wildlife and plants under the Endangered Species Act.

 

-- Soil Science Interagency Working Group released a draft framework for a Federal Strategic Plan for Soil Science.
