From Fires to Floods and Everything In Between: How Federal Facilities Can Thrive in an Era of Billion Dollar Weather Events
California's most destructive wildfire in history. Puerto Rico's devastating hurricane. Oklahoma's terrifying tornadoes.
According to the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), last year, the U.S. experienced 16 weather disasters, each with losses totaling $306 billion, a new U.S. record shattering the previous 2005 record of $215 billion. This webinar will open with an insider's view of NOAA's U.S. 2017 Billion-Dollar Weather and Climate Disasters report. Then, you'll hear from Federal Green Challenge participants whose federal facilities and operations have been subject to costly weather disasters, including Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, firestorms in California, a five-foot blizzard in Pennsylvania, Hurricane Harvey in Texas, and monster tornadoes in Oklahoma. Our brave speakers will describe the damage done, and their efforts to resiliently rebuild and serve the American people in a new era.
