Review of the Dust-Lead Hazard Standards and the Definition of Lead-Based Paint (Draft)
Jul. 2, 2018
As part of EPA's efforts to reduce childhood lead exposure, EPA evaluated the current dust-lead hazard standards (DLHS) and the definition of lead-based paint (LBP). Based on this evaluation, EPA is proposing to lower the DLHS from 40 micrograms/ft2 and 250 micrograms/ft2 to 10 micrograms/ft2 and 100 micrograms/ft2 on floors and window sills, respectively. EPA is proposing no changes to the current definition of LBP due to insufficient information to support such a change. Comments must be received on or before 16 August 2018. POC is John Yowell, National Program Chemicals Division, Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, EPA, 1200 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20460-0001; tel: 202-564-1213; email: yowell.john@epa.gov (Federal Register; 2 July 2018 [Proposed Rules], pages 30889-30901).
