Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants; Technical Corrections for 43 Wildlife and Plant Species on the Lists of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and Plants (Draft)
Nov. 6, 2026
USFWS announced technical corrections for 43 wildlife and plant species under the ESA. For 7 wildlife species and 30 plant species that predominately occur in California and Nevada, they are revising the List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife and the List of Endangered and Threatened Plants ("the Lists") to reflect the current scientifically accepted taxonomy and nomenclature of these species. They are also making commensurate revisions to the applicable critical habitat sections. Further, for six wildlife species occurring within the United States and territories, they are correcting errors in the Lists made in previous publications. The taxonomic, nomenclatural, and orthographic revisions and the corrections of publication errors are editorial in nature and involve no substantive changes to the Lists or any applicable regulations. This rule is effective 4 February 2027 without further action unless significant adverse comment is received by 7 December 2026.
