NOAA's nationally standardized land cover maps provide highly detailed 1-meter resolution data, offering much greater precision than previous 30-meter regional maps. The initial mapping layers use advanced artificial intelligence to identify impervious surfaces, tree canopy, and water. The refined land cover products enhance these initial maps by incorporating additional data and expert analysis to classify up to 20 standard C-CAP land cover categories, including wetlands.
