CDC's 2005 CTC Award-winning EMS Submission
Entitled "CDC’s Leadership, Innovation and Execution of a Corporate Environmental Management System (EMS)." Advancing its internal environmental quality and facility business practices, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) initiated the development of a comprehensive environmental management system (EMS) for its 10 research campuses located throughout the country. Despite limited resources to support this endeavor, CDC’s Environmental Protection Section (EPS) of the Office of Health and Safety, developed the structure to establish critical EMS components that laid the foundation to incorporate environmental considerations into 1.6 million square feet of CDC laboratories and support facilities and operations.
