This presentation will provide an overview of the principles that guide energy siting, investment, and policy decisions at the national level. Some topic areas that will be covered include regional grid optimization to build a stronger national energy transmission backbone to help move surplus energy to demand centers; the diversification of fuel sources to reduce vulnerabilities and create a more resilient grid; maximizing emissions reduction with the expansion of nuclear energy; layering different sources of energy to ensure grid reliability; and the need to cluster energy-intensive industries near their ideal power sources.
