The Role of State Department of Transportation's (DOTs) in Advancing Innovative Green Infrastructure Practices (Web-based)
State DOTs play an important role in directing funding to support the mobility, safety and environmental health of communities through transportation projects, including incorporating green infrastructure practices. This webinar will highlight green infrastructure projects where DOTs used innovative and flexible ways to meet users' needs, achieved cost savings, practiced robust community engagement, and forged strong local partnerships. In Seattle, we will learn how Washington's DOT addresses stormwater requirements for the I-5 bridge replacement by installing green infrastructure projects in the adjacent neighborhoods. In Denver, we will see how Colorado DOT's I-70 Cap Park, not only reconnected communities and addressed air quality, also mitigated flood risks and improved local water quality.
