This compliance tool supports effective implementation of Section 889, paragraphs (a) (1)(A) (Part A) and (a)(1)(B) (Part B) of the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019 (Pub. L. 115- 232), Prohibition on Certain Telecommunications and Video Surveillance Services or Equipment. The remarkable and practical results of the Section 889 Compliance Tool include: 1) simplifying the process of verifying vendor compliance with Section 889, Parts A & B; 2) delivering fast and dependable confirmation of a vendor's adherence to Section 889; 3) eliminating the need for acquisition professional/other users to navigate the complexities of DUNS numbers or sift through extensive FAR clauses/reps & certs on SAM.gov; 4) reducing market research time; and 5) minimizing risks associated with awarding to noncompliant vendors or contractors.

The goal of the NASA Applied Remote SEnsing Training (ARSET) is to increase the utility of NASA earth science and model data for policy makers, regulatory agencies, and other applied science professionals in the areas of Health and Air Quality, Water Resources, Eco Forecasting, and Disaster Management. NCPTT protects America's historic legacy by equipping preservation professionals with progressive technology-based research and training.

This is a climate-visualization website tool from the Interior Department's U.S. Geological Survey. The tool gives citizens and resource managers the opportunity to look at climate-driven impacts on watersheds and map projected changes at the local, regional, state and watershed levels. The tool includes the historical and future climate projections from 30 of the downscaled models for two of the RCP emission scenarios, RCP4.5 and RCP8.5. The tool also allows users to visualize projected changes in climate (maximum and minimum air temperature and precipitation) and the water balance (snow water equivalent, runoff, soil water storage and evaporative deficit) for any state, county and USGS Hydrologic Units (HUC).

The NCCA describes the results of a nationwide coastal probabilistic survey that was conducted in the summer of 2010 by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and its state, tribal, and federal partners. Results include estimates of coastal area with good, fair, and poor biological quality, water quality, sediment quality, and ecological fish tissue quality. Results are presented nationally and regionally for the Northeast, Southeast, Gulf of Mexico, West, and Great Lakes coasts. The NCCA 2010 also includes information on how the survey was implemented, and future actions and challenges.

The NCSHPO is the professional association of the State government officials who carry out the national historic preservation program as delegates of the Secretary of the Interior pursuant to the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (NHPA) (16 USC 470).

The center, sponsored by the FWS, trains and educates natural resource managers to accomplish the common goal of conserving fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats. Offered at the site are course on varied topics such as: stream restoration, endangered species management, interagency consultation for endangered species, habitat restoration, natural resources law, oil and chemical spill response, wetland plant identification, and integrated pest management to name a few.

The U.S. EPA and the U.S. DOE have initiated a joint national data center energy efficiency information program. The program coordinates a wide variety of activities from the DOE Industrial Technologies Program Save Energy Now initiative, the DOE Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP), and the EPA ENERGY STAR program. One activity is the development of an ENERGY STAR rating for data center infrastructure by initiating a nationwide data collection effort. Toward this end, ENERGY STAR is calling on data center owners and operators to collect data for twelve months on energy use and operating characteristics in existing data center facilities.

The purpose of this organization is to help people and organizations develop and implement measures to reduce vulnerability to drought.

This initiative was created to bring stakeholders together to develop solutions to the issue of electronic products management. The infrastructure for collecting, reusing and recycling electronics in the United States has not kept pace with this growing waste stream, and the number of electronic products entering the waste stream is projected to increase dramatically unless reuse and recycling options expand. All stakeholders involved, federal, state and local governments, manufacturers, retailers, recyclers, and environmental groups, are concerned about and motivated to find a solution to this issue.

The ECHO data sets have been compiled for access to larger sets of national data to ensure that ECHO meets your data retrieval needs. While ECHO provides data detailing compliance assurance and enforcement activities related to federal environmental laws, it has a limited online display of data. The ECHO data sets are available for download to review these expanded data sets. Each data set is a compressed zip file containing one or more comma-delimited text files. The download summary documents posted after each data set contain a file listing and definitions of included data elements. Data sets include information on Clean Air Act Stationary Sources, NPDES dischargers, Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMR), hazardous waste, and civil enforcement information. Datasets will be updated weekly.

The EPA National Enforcement Training Institute (NETI) is required by statute to train Federal, state, local and tribal lawyers, inspectors, civil and criminal investigators, and technical experts in the enforcement of the Nation's environmental laws. NETI provides a comprehensive and integrated approach to training, in which enforcement and compliance personnel are trained in a range of specialities in order to work together more effectively as a team.

The primary goal of this program is to recognize the variety of existing accomplishments and excellence provided by environmental practitioners in adhering to the principles of the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP). The NAEP National Environmental Excellence Award competition is not a membership oriented competition and is expressly created to consider nominations from all interested environmental professionals, their agencies, companies and so forth from across the country. The awards are presented during the annual March NAEP conference. Nominations are typically due the end of September.

EPA invites Environmental Justice advocates and the public to participate in the upcoming National Environmental Justice Community Engagement Calls aimed at engaging with communities on all aspects of EJ. The purpose of these calls is to inform the community and other stakeholders about EPA's EJ work and enhance opportunities to maintain an open dialogue with EJ advocates. As environmental justice continues to be integrated into EPA programs, policies, and activities, the Agency hopes these calls will help reaffirm EPA's continued commitment to work with community groups and other stakeholders to strengthen local environmental and human health outcomes. NEMI-CBR is a secure, Web-based database for locating, evaluating, comparing, and retrieving analytical methods for chemical, biological, and radiological-related contaminants that could pose a threat to public water supplies. An extension of the National Environmental Methods Index (NEMI), it includes all the information of NEMI, plus three additional fields needed to address emergency response. The tool also includes the CBR Advisor, an expert system companion that enables users to obtain advice in response to an incident and to access detailed information for planning and training purposes. NEMI-CBR is a password-protected tool with access granted to personnel from drinking water and wastewater utilities, State primacy (primary enforcement) Agencies, Federal officials (including government laboratory personnel), and public health agencies.

The National Environmental Policy Act was one of the first laws ever written that establishes the broad national framework for protecting our environment. NEPA's basic policy is to assure that all branches of government give proper consideration to the environment prior to undertaking any major federal action that significantly affects the environment.

The NEPA Application Course (CIN: A-4A-0077) is offered by the Navy. It is presented in a 3-day seminar, provides participants with the legal requirements, Navy policy, procedures and techniques for implementing NEPA, and is the foundation for more advanced NEPA coursework. This course focuses on: selecting the proper document; levels of analysis; public involvement; review process; and impact analysis required under the law. Lectures, case studies and hands-on workshops involving Navy scenarios are part of this in-depth study of NEPA analysis process. The course focuses on documentation and sufficiency requirements for the Categorical Exclusion and Environmental Assessment. The course is taught by an experienced planning practitioner with additional legal support by the Department of the Navy, Office of the General Counsel. The CEQ is issuing this interim final rule to remove the existing implementing regulations for the National Environmental Policy Act, in response to E.O. 14154, Unleashing American Energy. Among other things, E.O. 14154 rescinds E.O. 11991, Relating to Protection and Enhancement of Environmental Quality, which amended E.O. 11514, Protection and Enhancement of Environmental Quality, and directed CEQ to promulgate regulations for implementing NEPA and required Federal agencies to comply with those regulations. E.O. 14154 also directs CEQ to issue guidance on implementing NEPA and to propose rescinding the NEPA implementing regulations. This interim final rule carries out President Trump's latter instruction. See Section II.A. As explained in Section II.B of this rule, CEQ has also concluded that it may lack authority to issue binding rules on agencies in the absence of the now-rescinded E.O. 11191. CEQ cited E.O. 11991 as authority in 1978 when it first issued its NEPA regulations. However, that Executive Order has now been rescinded, and CEQ therefore has determined that it is appropriate to remove its regulations from the Code of Federal Regulations. The NEP was authorized under the 1987 Amendments to the Clean Water Act to improve estuarine waters, habitats and living resources by working with partners and the public. Estuaries are places where rivers meet the sea. Under NEP EPA develops plans for attaining or maintaining water quality in an estuary. This includes protection of public water supplies and the protection and propagation of a balanced, indigenous population of shellfish, fish, and wildlife, and allows recreational activities, in and on water, requires that control of point and nonpoint sources of pollution to supplement existing controls of pollution.

This plan is specific to each individual program and addresses all aspects of environmental protection for the estuary, including issues such as water quality, habitat, living resources, and land use. The CCMP is based on a scientific characterization of the estuary, and is developed and approved by a broad-based coalition of stakeholders. You will also find examples of active CCMPs here.

Developed by the EPA's National Estuary Program (NEP), NEPmap contains more than a decade's worth of NEP habitat data and provides a large set of data layers to enable viewing of NEP habitat information in a wider environmental context. The NEPmap allows users to view water quality conditions in their estuary and surrounding watershed alongside NEP habitat projects. NEPmap users can also generate and print maps and reports, change map scales, turn on and off background layers and interact with information points to provide a greater level of detail than a traditional static map.

This Climate Adaptation Strategy provides a roadmap of key steps needed over the next five years to reduce the current and expected impacts of climate change on our natural resources, which include: changing species distributions and migration patterns, the spread of wildlife diseases and invasive species, the inundation of coastal habitats with rising sea levels, changing productivity of our coastal oceans, and changes in freshwater availability. It provides specific voluntary steps that agencies and partners can take in the coming years to reduce costly damages and protect the health of our communities and economy. The strategy does not prescribe any mandatory activities for government or nongovernmental entities, nor suggest any regulatory actions. An intergovernmental steering committee that included representatives from 15 federal agencies, five state fish and wildlife agencies, and two inter-tribal commissions oversaw development of the strategy with support from the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.

The federal government will lead a new partnership with charitable organizations, faith-based organizations, the private sector and local, state and tribal governments to reduce food loss and waste in order to improve overall food security and conserve our nation's natural resources. The goal is calling for a 50-percent reduction by 2030. This announcement occurs just one week before world leaders gather at the United Nations General Assembly in New York to address sustainable development practices, including sustainable production and consumption.

NHD is the surface water component of The National Map. The NHD is a digital vector dataset used by geographic information systems (GIS). It contains features such as lakes, ponds, streams, rivers, canals, dams and streamgages. These data are designed to be used in general mapping and in the analysis of surface-water systems.

The National Invasive Species Council (NISC) was established by Executive Order (EO) 13112 to ensure that Federal programs and activities to prevent and control invasive species are coordinated, effective and efficient.

The National Lakes Assessment 2012: A Collaborative Survey of Lakes in the United States is the second report assessing the condition of the nation's lakes. The NLA is one of a series of National Aquatic Resource Surveys, a national-scale monitoring program designed to produce statistically-valid assessments that answer critical questions about the condition of waters in the United States. The key goals of the NLA report are to describe the ecological and recreational condition of the nation's lakes, how those conditions are changing, and the key stressors affecting those waters. Using a statistical survey design, 1,038 sites were selected at random to represent the condition of the larger population of lakes across the lower 48 states including natural lakes and manmade reservoirs. The NLA Web site also includes findings at the ecoregional scale and allows users to explore additional results using a new interactive dashboard.

This dashboard displays the results of the most recent National Lakes Assessment (NLA) which evaluated the biological, chemical, physical, and recreational condition of lakes in the United States.

The center provides the general public and professionals with information about lead hazards and their prevention. NLIC operates under a contract with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), with funding from EPA, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

In preparation for National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (NLPPW), observed Oct. 20-26, 2024, the EPA, the CDC, and the HUD have released outreach materials that organizations, governments and individuals can use to plan and implement local events and activities to educate communities about preventing lead exposure. Each year, NLPPW is a call to reduce childhood exposure to lead by increasing lead poisoning prevention awareness. Approximately three million American households with children under six years old -- including more than two million low-income households -- have lead exposure hazards. Childhood lead exposure is preventable, and NLPPW highlights the many steps we can take to reduce the risk of lead exposure through localized outreach and education.

This document is a picture of the extent of beach monitoring in U.S. coastal and Great Lake waters. The List provides information to the public about beaches in their state. It will also help EPA determine how to better implement the BEACH Act. EPA compiled this list using information submitted by states and territories to EPA as of January 31, 2008.

This guidance helps citizens and municipalities in urban areas protect bodies of water from polluted runoff that can result from everyday activities. These scientifically sound techniques are the best practices known today. This document provides technical guidance and reference for use by state, territory, and authorized tribal managers as well as the public in the implementation of nonpoint source (NPS) pollution management programs. The guidance contains information on the best available, economically achievable means of reducing nonpoint source pollution through the protection and restoration of wetlands and riparian areas, as well as the implementation of vegetated treatment systems.

The operator of the wastewater treatment plant at Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park pleaded guilty to violating the Clean Water Act in August 2011, when he allowed hundreds of thousands of gallons of sewage to run into the Nisqually River. Under the terms of the plea agreement, the employee is giving up his certification to operate a wastewater facility and is resigning from the Park Service. Sentencing is scheduled for 14 December 2012.

To protect the health of those who live, work and visit our national parks and facilities, and in support of the Presidents Executive Order on Protecting the Federal Workforce and Requiring Mask-Wearing , the National Park Service (NPS) implemented a mask requirement for employees, visitors, partners and contractors. Face masks are now required in all NPS buildings and facilities. Masks are also required on NPS-managed lands when physical distancing cannot be maintained, including narrow or busy trails, overlooks and historic homes. Additional public health measures are in place across the service, from capacity limits to one-way trails, or even temporary closures in response to local conditions.

This national program develops and coordinates NPS policies, standards, and procedures for managing museum collections, including natural, cultural, archival and manuscript materials. It also provides technical assistance to parks and professional development pertaining to museum collections acquisition, documentation, preservation, protection, use, and disposal. The website provides the public with online museum exhibits and Teaching with Museum Collections lesson plans for teacher.

The National Park Service (NPS) is releasing the Cultural Resources Climate Change Strategy (CRCC Strategy). The CRCC Strategy sets out the broad scope of cultural resources in relation to climate change and identifies major directions of action in cultural resources and climate change for the NPS. These directions in turn will help shape and support collaboration with cultural resource and climate change partners both nationally and internationally. This action finalizes the Clean Air Act (CAA) technology review (TR) conducted for the commercial and industrial dry cleaning facilities using perchloroethylene (PCE) as the cleaning solvent (PCE Dry Cleaning) source categories regulated under National Emission Standards for Hazardous air Pollutants (NESHAP). This final rule does not finalize the changes made at proposal and makes no amendments to the current NESHAP given the recently finalized action under the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA) which has instituted a 10-year phaseout of the use of PCE for dry cleaning. The mission of the National Preservation Institute (NPI) is to educate those involved in the management, preservation, and stewardship of cultural heritage. NPI was founded in 1980 as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization.

In December 2023, the EPA requested comment on the proposed the Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI), which informed the revisions to the National Primary Drinking Water Regulation (NPDWR) for lead and copper. After consideration of public comment on the LCRI, and consistent with the provisions set forth under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), the EPA is finalizing revisions to the NPDWR for lead and copper. In this rule, the agency is finalizing requirements for drinking water systems to replace lead and certain galvanized service lines. The final rule also removes the lead trigger level, reduces the lead action level to 0.010 mg/L, and strengthens tap sampling procedures to improve public health protection and simplify implementation relative to the 2021 Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR). The final rule will significantly reduce the adverse human health impacts of exposure to toxic lead in drinking water. This final rule is effective on 30 December 2024. The National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWR) are legally enforceable primary standards and treatment techniques that apply to public water systems. Primary standards and treatment techniques protect public health by limiting the levels of contaminants in drinking water. This is a compendium of the currently regulated contaminants, including disinfection byproducts, their maximum contaminant level goal (MCLG), maxim um contaminant level (MCL), potential health effects, and common sources of the contaminant.

The Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 ("CERCLA" or "the Act"), as amended, requires that the National Oil and Hazardous Substances Pollution Contingency Plan ("NCP") include a list of national priorities among the known releases or threatened releases of hazardous substances, pollutants or contaminants throughout the United States. The National Priorities List ("NPL") constitutes this list. The NPL is intended primarily to guide the Environmental Protection Agency ("the EPA" or "the agency") in determining which sites warrant further investigation. These further investigations will allow the EPA to assess the nature and extent of public health and environmental risks associated with the site and to determine what CERCLA-financed remedial action(s), if any, may be appropriate. This rule adds one site to the General Superfund section of the NPL. The rule is effective on 15 January 2025.
