The Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF) sustainable development grantmaking endeavors to support environmental stewardship that is ecologically based, economically sound, socially just, culturally appropriate, and consistent with intergenerational equity. The Fund encourages government, business, and civil society to work collaboratively on environmental conservation and to make it an integral part of all development planning and activity. Recognizing the global nature of many environmental problems, the Fund also promotes international cooperation in addressing these challenges. Awards range from $25,000 to $300,000. A preliminary letter of inquiry is recommended.

This document, dated June 2011, is a primer on more than a dozen approaches for ensuring that wetlands and beaches can migrate inland, as people remove buildings, roads, and other structures from land as it becomes submerged. These approaches are known as "rolling easements."

The Roof Savings Calculator was developed as an industry-consensus roof savings calculator for commercial and residential buildings using whole-building energy simulations. It is built upon the DOE-2.1E engine for fast energy simulation and integrates AtticSim for advanced modeling of modern attic and cool roofing technologies. An annual simulation of hour-by-hour performance is calculated for the building properties provided based on weather data for the selected location. Annual energy savings reported are based upon heating and cooling loads and thus this calculator is only relevant to buildings with a heating and/or cooling unit.

This EPA tool for wastewater and drinking water utilities uses brief videos to guide users through the process of building their own unique Roadmap to Resilience. The RtoR presents five stops along the "Route" (Assess, Plan, Train, Respond, and Recover) where utility personnel learn what it means for their utility to be resilient, and what tools and resources are available for their utility to become resilient.

The Safe Drinking Water Act requires states to report drinking water information periodically to EPA. This information is maintained in a federal database, the SDWIS Fed Data Warehouse. Included is basic information about each public water system, including: the system's name; ID number; city or county served; number of people served; type of system (residential, transient, non-transient); whether the system operates year-round or seasonally; and characteristics of the system's source(s) of water. SDWIS also include violation information and enforcement information including actions states or EPA have taken to ensure that a public water system returns to compliance if it is in violation of a drinking water regulation.

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are alerting shippers and carriers to the importance of transporting lithium batteries safely. Sandia National Laboratories/New Mexico (SNL/NM) has a comprehesive EPP program in place that continues to grow and evolve to incorporate new aspects as they are identified. This program has three primary elements: Procurement Green Teams; a Product Review Process; and Product Replacement Recommendations. The EPA's Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines regarding recycled-content products, the USDA's biobased preferences, and the USGBC's LEED guidelines are used as a starting point for all EPP efforts. With the ability to direct purchasing efforts accross the site, these program elements have facilitated the implementation of environmentally beneficial and finacially wise policies and practices.

The SSOAP toolbox is a suite of computer software tools used for quantification of RDII and facilitating capacity analysis of sanitary sewer systems. This toolbox includes USEPA Storm Water Management Model Version 5 (SWMM5) for performing dynamic routing of flows through the sanitary sewer systems.

A sanitary survey is a method of investigating the sources of fecal contamination to a waterbody. Sanitary surveys are often used for drinking water, shellfish, and watershed protection programs. They can also be used at beaches and other recreational waters. Sanitary surveys help state and local program managers and public health officials identify sources of water pollution, assess the magnitude of pollution, and identify priority locations for water testing. Sanitary surveys for recreational waters involve collecting information at the beach or waterbody's shoreline, as well as in the surrounding watershed.

EPA's Sanitary Survey App for Marine and Fresh Waters helps waterbody managers evaluate all contributing waterbody and watershed information including water quality data, pollution source data, and land use data. The data from the App can be exported for use in predictive models and for sharing within or between agencies (e.g., public health and environmental).

(Kansas City, Kan., June 24, 2010) - Results from March air sampling at a child care center and an adjacent building at the Bannister Federal Complex in Kansas City do not reveal health concerns at the facilities related to polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), EPA Region 7 officials announced today. The results include tests for 209 different forms of PCBs in indoor air samples and from air samples taken from beneath the concrete floor slabs of Buildings 50 and 52.

Results of a second round of air monitoring in and around a child care facility and an adjacent building at the Bannister Federal Complex in Kansas City, Mo., do not reveal health concerns with indoor air at the facilities related to volatile organic compounds (VOCs), EPA Region 7 officials announced today.
