EPA is releasing the final Geologic Sequestration of Carbon Dioxide Guidance. This guidance will assist permit applicants and owners or operators in submitting and managing the large volumes of information associated with Class VI geologic sequestration projects. The guidance identifies common file formats used for geologic data and technical reports and describes how Class VI permit applicants and owners or operators can use the Agency's electronic Geologic Sequestration Data Tool to meet the Class VI electronic reporting requirements throughout the duration of a Class VI project.

GEC manages the EPEAT ecolabel, a free resource for procurement professionals to identify and select more sustainable products. The Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) has issued Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) DE-FOA-0000901 on the EERE Exchange titled "Assisting Federal Facilities with Energy Conservation Technologies." The AFFECT FOA will provide direct funding to U.S. Federal agencies for the development of combined heat and power or renewable energy capital projects at agency facilities. Letters of intent (LOI) are due by 10 December 2013, and full applications are due by 18 February 2014. A webinar will be held on 12 November 2013 to provide information and answer questions.

EPA has announced the selection of 24 recipients that will receive nearly $16 million in P2 grants made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law's historic $100 million program investment. The selections are for two grant programs. One grant program will provide P2 businesses with technical assistance to improve health and the environment in disadvantaged communities. A second grant program will assist empower businesses to increase the supply, demand, and use of safer and more sustainable products.

For the first time, Pollution Prevention and Source Reduction Assistance Grants (between 2011 and 2022) have topped the one-billion-pound mark for reductions in hazardous materials and pollutants. In addition, cost savings of $2.3 billion resulted from companies buying fewer hazardous materials and shipping less hazardous waste, reducing regulated air emissions, treating less wastewater and buying less water, fuel and energy. Further success from these grants includes 20.8 million metric tons of greenhouse gas reductions and 31.9 billion kilowatt hour savings achieved mostly through energy efficiency and reduced use of energy.

This tool quantifies the projected environmental benefits of purchasing and using "green" janitorial services and products. It is designed to forecast the environmental benefits of reducing chemical use by doing some or all pollution prevention measures typically involved in the routine interior cleaning of an office building. This tool also enables users to identify which green cleaning measures will have the greatest impact in reducing their use of hazardous chemicals and in preventing pollution. The Calculator's output applies only to standard office cleaning products and practices, and does not apply to other building maintenance issues, such as equipment maintenance, pest control, or landscaping activities.
