The White House has announced the winners of the 2016 GreenGov Presidential Awards, honoring those who have gone above and beyond to implement innovative sustainability projects within the government. Senior Administration officials will recognize the 12 individuals and team winners September 8, 2016 in a ceremony at the White House. Winners include EPA, NASA, DHHS, VA, and USACE.

This year's Safer Choice Partner of the Year award winners come from 15 states and the District of Columbia. They were recognized for achievements in the design, manufacture, and the selection and use of cleaners, detergents and other products with safer chemicals. Applicants for this year's awards were encouraged to show how their work promotes environmental justice, bolsters resilience to the impacts of climate change, results in cleaner air or water, improves drinking water quality or advances innovation in packaging.

The U.S Department of Energy's Federal Energy Management Program congratulates the 18 winners of the 2021 Federal Energy and Water Management Awards. These awards recognize individuals, teams, and organizations for outstanding efforts to cut energy waste, reduce costs, optimize performance, and advance America's progress towards net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The Federal Energy and Water Management Awards are presented annually to federal employees, along with their private-sector partners, who exemplify federal leadership in efficient energy management. All nominations are reviewed and selected by a federal evaluation panel. Each of this year's awardees successfully implemented cost-effective projects and programs that led to outstanding achievements in energy and water efficiency, resilience, technology, distributed energy, cybersecurity, and vehicle fleet management across the federal government.

The Department of Defense (DoD) has announced the winners of the 2015 Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards. Since 1962, the awards recognize individuals, teams, and installations for their outstanding achievements and innovative work protecting the environment while sustaining mission readiness. Military Services and Defense Agencies may submit one nomination for each of the nine award categories. A diverse panel of judges representing federal and state agencies, academia, and the private sector select the winners.

(WASHINGTON, April 22, 2021) The Department of Defense (DoD) announced the eight winners of the 2021 Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards. The awards have honored installations, teams, and individuals each year since 1962 for outstanding achievements in DoD environmental programs. These accomplishments include outstanding conservation activities, innovative environmental practices, and partnerships that improve quality of life and promote efficiencies without compromising DoD's mission success.

EPA is announcing the winners of the 2023 Green Chemistry Challenge Awards for new and innovative green chemistry technologies. Through the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the generation and use of hazardous substances, this year's winners have developed solutions to significant environmental challenges such as climate change and spur innovation and economic development. An independent panel of technical experts convened by the American Chemical Society Green Chemistry Institute formally judged the 2023 submissions and made recommendations to EPA.

EPA is kicking-off the 25th Pollution Prevention (P2) Week with a series of events and activities to advance practices that reduce, eliminate or prevent pollution at its source. P2 practices, prior to recycling, treatment or disposal, can help reduce exposure to toxic chemicals, conserve natural resources and reduce cleanup and financial costs for businesses. It is essential for protecting public health and improving environmental conditions in and around disadvantaged communities that have long been overburdened by pollution. During P2 Week, EPA will hold several events to help businesses and P2 practitioners.

The EPEAT Purchaser Awards recognize excellence in green procurement of electronics. EPEAT Purchasers earn a star for each product category for which they have a written policy in place that requires the purchase of EPEAT registered electronics.

(WASHINGTON, April 20, 2018) The Defense Department is honoring nine winners with the 2018 Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards for exceptional environmental achievements and innovative, cost-effective environmental practices. The department has honored individuals, teams and installations each year since 1962 for remarkable achievements in these environmental management strategies that successfully support mission readiness, Ellen M. Lord, the undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment, said in the memorandum announcing the recipients.

The Presidential Federal Sustainability Awards Program celebrates the extraordinary leadership, innovation, and achievement of Federal agencies and their employees toward the President's charge for Federal climate action and the ambitious sustainability goals established in the Federal Sustainability Plan and Executive Order 14057. Federal programs, projects, project teams, facilities, and individuals are eligible for nomination by their agency.

Section 110(h) of the National Historic Preservation Act establishes the Secretary of the Interior annual award program to recognize the outstanding contributions in historic preservation. The Secretary's award is distinguished from other historic preservation award programs because it: is statutorily mandated as a Cabinet-level recognition; focuses on the accomplishments of individual employees whose work enhanced and/or improved historic preservation in their agency, state, tribal, or local government; and recognizes the contributions of employees at multiple levels of government. The Secretary may present up to four awards annually, one for each level of government participating in the national preservation partnership program (federal, state, Tribal, and local) and each comes with a special citation and $1,000.

The Department of Defense (DoD) announced the Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards winners for 2022. The awards recognize installations, teams, and individuals for their accomplishments in innovative and cost-effective environmental management strategies supporting mission readiness. Each year since 1962, the Secretary of Defense Environmental Awards have honored service members and civilians across DoD. The nominees' achievements include significant strides to conserve our Nation's natural and cultural resources; protect human health; prevent or eliminate pollution at the source; clean up hazardous substances, pollutants or contaminants, and munitions on DoD sites; and incorporate environmental requirements into weapon systems acquisition. DoD also leverages technology to develop innovative solutions to existing and emerging human health and environmental challenges. In 2022, DoD selected the following 9 winners from a total of 26 nominees.

USACE announced the 2023 Environmental and Sustainability Award winners! USACE's Environmental and Sustainability Awards Program provides the opportunity to mark our significant contributions towards protecting and preserving our environment. Environmental stewardship is ingrained in our culture here at USACE. It is indoctrinated in our Environmental Operating Principles and illustrated through the many actions being taken across our Military, Civil Works and R&D missions. This year's winners exemplify the strength in our collective efforts across the enterprise to shape a sustainable future for current and future generations.
