It is one of the tools developed by EPA's Chemical Emergency Preparedness and Prevention Office (CEPPO) and NOAA, to assist front-line chemical emergency planners and responders. The guide encourages project managers to consider a mix of remedies, including dredging and disposing of sediment; capping it to limit further contamination; or allowing natural attenuation to let chemical contaminants in soil or groundwater to degrade naturally. The final document includes new language encouraging project managers to conduct more analyses and consider more sources of uncertainty regarding the overall contamination of a site. In the final guide the language included directions to take steps to cap contaminants "sufficient" to protect the environment.

The CDHC was created in 2002, in response to the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force's (USCRTF) National Action Plan to Conserve Coral Reefs. The NOAA Fisheries Pacific Islands Regional Office (PIRO) developed the Coral Species Identification Training Program to increase capacity of coral reef monitoring efforts in the U.S. Pacific Islands and various other Pacific Island nations. The program provides free training and resources for identifying Indo-Pacific reef-building corals including 15 species that are listed as threatened under the Endangered Species Act. This includes the listed and unlisted corals found in each archipelago covered by the program. This training can be requested online or in person.

The current Federal delineation manual, dated January 1987, used in the Clean Water Act Section 404 regulatory program for the identification and delineation of wetlands. EPA has released a new brochure that provides health and safety information for professional and do-it-yourself mechanics who may work with asbestos-containing automotive components. Current Best Practices for Preventing Asbestos Exposure Among Brake and Clutch Repair Workers emphasizes the need to prevent asbestos fibers from escaping into the air during repair work. While it is impossible to tell if clutch and brake components contain asbestos, the booklet advises that mechanics should automatically assume the possible presence of asbestos. The booklet emphasizes the warning against blowing dust from brakes and clutches with compressed air. It also details three recognized methods for containing asbestos dust in a professional automotive shop. The booklet provides a list of do's and don'ts for do-it-yourself mechanics. They include using pre-ground, ready-to-install parts and not taking work clothing inside the house to prevent exposing family members to asbestos dust.

Conventional water treatment (consisting of coagulation, sedimentation, filtration and chlorination) can generally remove intact cyanobacterial cells and low levels of cyanotoxins from source waters. However, water systems may face challenges in providing drinking water during a severe bloom event when there are high levels of cyanobacteria and cyanotoxins in source waters. This collection of tools will help public water systems manage this issue.

Plug and process loads (PPLs) consume about one-third of the primary energy in U.S. commercial buildings. PPLs cover a wide variety of electronic, computer, refrigeration, and cooking devices, including essential equipment for information processing, medical treatment, and food service businesses. The December 2015 decision guides found in this resource were created to help building owners find the right control strategy for PPLs in their buildings. Developed by the Better Building Alliance, the guides are developed for different building types and outline the costs, potential savings, complexities, and user friendliness of various control strategies and their applications to each building type. The guides also aim to help building owners determine whether a control is appropriate for particular project applications such as staged retrofit projects, whole-building retrofits, new construction projects, and projects that involve tenants and landlords. This report draws upon the knowledge, expertise, and perspectives of more than sixty transportation experts, government officials, operators, and other key stakeholders, to make recommendations for actions that they believe will make a profound contribution to the environmental sustainability of the North American transportation system. The report is issued by Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) which was established under the North American Agreement on Environmental Cooperation (NAAEC).

This NOAA-sponsored website is focused on helping communities address coastal issues. The website provides not only coastal data, but also the tools, training, and information needed to make these data truly useful. Content comes from many sources, all of which are vetted by NOAA. Data sets range from economic data to satellite imagery. The site contains visualization tools, predictive tools, and tools that make data easier to find and use. Training courses are available online or can be brought to the user's location. Information is also organized by focus area or topic.

Created by the EPA National Water Program, this is a directory of regional climate change adaptation programs of federal natural resource agencies to be used as a tool to strengthen coordination to assist in preparing for a changing climate. The first section of this directory provides a short summary of the various federal natural resource agency programs that are deployed on a regional basis to support climate change adaptation, as well as a map of the region or area served by the program. The second section of this directory is organized by the eight regions described in the Third National Climate Assessment released May 6, 2014 by the U.S. Global Change Research Program.

The Disaster Debris Recovery Tool is an interactive mapping tool of 12 types of recovery facilities, recyclers, and landfills that manage disaster debris. This tool provides information and locations of over 20,000 facilities throughout the U.S. Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands. The tool can be used by disaster response, recovery and planning experts to advance safe recovery, recycling, and disposal of disaster debris.

The Distributed Wind Energy Futures Study, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Wind Energy Technologies Office, used highly detailed data and new modeling techniques to identify locations with the highest potential for distributed wind energy of all forms. The study focused on the impact of wind technology cost and performance, policy, and siting conditions on economic potential. NREL also modeled opportunities for distributed wind in disadvantaged communities.
