The Green Electronics Council (GEC), the organization that manages the EPEAT ecolabel, announced the 2020 EPEAT Purchaser Award winners during a virtual event showcasing winner-submitted acceptance videos and photos. Seventy-five* (75) organizations, including cities, states, U.S. Federal agencies, healthcare systems, universities, K-12 school systems, and companies from around the globe were celebrated for their decision to purchase sustainable electronic products.

This memorandum, dated 7 July 2008, clarifies EPA's position regarding the relationship between EO requirements and proposed Federal Agency SEPs. The document explains those situations where a proposal that is similar in nature to directives of an EO may otherwise be acceptable under the SEP policy regarding acceptance of proposals "that may not have otherwise occurred" without the settlement.

This presentation provides an overview of the USEPA's C&D Materials Recovery Program and details the recent shift in focus from waste management to sustainable materials management (SMM) as a lifecycle approach to managing materials. The annual awards are based on published criteria approved by the CMRA Board of Directors and are intended to highlight and provide distinction to those that have accepted the challenge to define and expand the industry served by the CMRA. The four awards are:

• Facility of the Year is for recognition of a facility that is actively recycling or diverting construction and demolition materials from landfills. The facility must show substantial contributions to the C&D recycling industry.
• Recycler of the Year is for recognition to an individual in the construction and demolition recycling industry who has made superior and substantial contributions to his/her company or industry in achieving sound operating practices, including marketing materials.
• Governmental Recycling Program of the Year is for recognition to a public sector recycling program that provides substantial contributions in construction and demolition recycling.

EPA finalized changes to the effluent limitations guidelines and standards for the Construction and Development point source category. These changes are being promulgated pursuant to a settlement agreement to resolve litigation. This final rule withdraws the numeric discharge standards, which are currently stayed, and changes several of the non-numeric provisions of the existing rule. This final rule is effective on 5 May 2014.

U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan (D-NC) sent a letter to Acting United States Secretary of the Navy BJ Penn, asking him to help close information gaps in the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry's (ATSDR) 1997 public health assessment. New information about the levels of benzene, TCE and PCE in Camp Lejeune's water supply recently invalidated sections of the public health assessment.

This course provides an overview of the vapor intrusion exposure pathway including its scientific foundation, regulatory framework, and the technical aspects of investigating and remediating contaminated vapor sites. The class will cover topics such as: screening sites for potential vapor intrusion concerns, conducting field investigations, sampling techniques, data analyses, exposure point calculations, the Johnson and Ettinger predictive model, vapor intrusion risk assessment, vapor intrusion mitigation, and remediation. Participants will work through practical problems and typical site scenarios based on case studies of established vapor intrusion sites. This course provides a comprehensive introduction for those new to the field, and will also provide insights, data analysis techniques, and the latest research for more advanced participants.

The guide encourages project managers to consider a mix of remedies, including dredging and disposing of sediment; capping it to limit further contamination; or allowing natural attenuation to let chemical contaminants in soil or groundwater to degrade naturally. The final document includes new language encouraging project managers to conduct more analyses and consider more sources of uncertainty regarding the overall contamination of a site. In the final guide the language included directions to take steps to cap contaminants "sufficient" to protect the environment.

EPA is amending the emissions reporting regulations applicable to sources that monitor and report emissions under the Acid Rain Program, the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR), and/or the NOX SIP Call. The amendments provide that if an affected unit fails to complete a required quality-assurance, certification or recertification, fuel analysis, or emission rate test by the applicable deadline under the regulations because of travel, plant access, or other safety restrictions implemented to address the current COVID-19 national emergency and if the unit's actual monitored data would be considered valid if not for the delayed test, the unit may temporarily continue to report actual monitored data instead of substitute data. The amendments promulgated in this rule will expire in 180 days. EPA is also requesting comment on this rule. This rule is effective 22 April 2020. Offered by the Northwest Environmental Training Center (NWTC), this 1-day course addresses understanding, controlling and managing invasive fish through early detection and assessment, with emphasis on control and management methods. This course is intended for biologists, ecologists and managers seeking an improved understanding of non-native invasive fish species and the methods for prevention, controlling and managing them.

EPA is finalizing PM emission standards and test procedures applicable to certain classes of engines used by civil subsonic jet airplanes (engines with rated output of greater than 26.7 kN) to replace the existing smoke standard for those engines. The EPA is adopting these standards under our authority in the CAA. These standards and test procedures are equivalent to the engine standards adopted by the United Nations' ICAO in 2017 and 2020 and will apply to both new type design aircraft engines and in-production aircraft engines. These standards reflect the importance of the control of PM emissions and U.S. efforts to secure the highest practicable degree of uniformity in aviation regulations and standards. Additionally, the EPA is migrating, modernizing, and streamlining the existing regulations into a new part in the Code of Federal Regulations. As part of this update, the EPA is also aligning with ICAO by applying the smoke number standards to engines less than or equal to 26.7 kilonewtons rated output used on supersonic airplanes.
